University College of the North extends sympathy to Boushie family

On behalf of the University College of the North I wish to offer sincere condolences to the family of Colten Boushie. We stand with our indigenous community and offer our support during this difficult time.

We recommit to the goals of indigenization, reconciliation and respect. We commit to making our institution a safe, inclusive space where we can openly and respectively discuss hard questions and can affirm the rights and dignity of indigenous people.

And finally, let us not forget that there is no hurt more profound that when a mother loses a child, and as a society, we must do more to prevent more hurt and pain.
