Unlock benefits for your home daycare in Nunavut

Press Release

23 October 2023

Do you want to start a daycare in your home?

Taking care of more than four children under the age of 12 in your home requires a licence from the Department of Education – it’s the law. Take your care to the next level by becoming a licensed provider.

Becoming a licensed provider means you can:

  • Obtain a government subsidy so you can offer $10/day care to parents.
  • Receive additional funding to support your daycare business (including start-up support, language and culture programming, operations and maintenance, and more).
  • Access early learning resources that reflect Inuit culture and life in Nunavut (resources available in all official languages).
  • Benefit from specialized training and ongoing support in all aspects of childcare.
  • Access a network of care providers and supports.

For more information, visit the Department of Education’s Early Learning and Child Care webpage.
