Update on Moose Cree First Nation’s Child & Family Laws

Press Release

June 26, 2025

Moose Cree First Nation has passed their two Laws on November the 13th, 2024, the Laws are not yet in affect.  It takes 1 year before our Laws get the full backing of the Federal Government under Former Bill C92. Moose Cree First Nation’s Chief and Council will keep our membership updated and informed on when they will start enacting their Laws. We will keep our membership updated on when we will start the process of activating our Child Welfare Reform Laws.

The Child and Family Well-Being Program will update our community on our applications with Section 41 Housing from Indigenous Services Canada. These are units for our Safe Houses, Transition Homes and our Post Majority Care Homes for our children that are and were in the Child Welfare System. The Child and Family Well-Being/Band Representative Team has had some success with some applications over time. These homes will help reunite some of our children with their families over time.

We would like to acknowledge that we would not be where we are today without the tremendous input and hard work from Moose Cree employees, community members, and many others.
