Press Release

Dec 19 2025

Winnipeg, Manitoba, December 19, 2025: On the heels of the 113th birthday of the Winnipeg Art Gallery this week, WAG-Qaumajuq is excited to announce a gift for the entire community. Beginning January 7, 2026, WAG Wednesday Nights will offer free admission to the galleries every Wednesday night (5-9pm) for the next three years.

The inaugural WAG Wednesday Night on January 7 will be extra special to kick off the program with a free concert by critically acclaimed, Juno and Polaris Music Prize nominated Winnipeg singer Begonia, as well as a DJ set with Ali Wan Kenobi. Each week thereafter, visitors can expect evening access to the exhibitions, a cash bar, specialty cocktails, and a rotating lineup of programs—ranging from retro video games and throwback hip hop and R&B nights, to art tours, jazz performances, sketch nights, screenings, artist talks, and more.

Quick Facts:

  • Beginning Wednesday, January 7, 2026, WAG Wednesday Nights will offer free admission and programming at WAG-Qaumajuq every Wednesday evening from 5-9pm.
  • A three-year partnership expands accessibility with extended evening hours, especially convenient for students and people living and working downtown.
  • The first WAG Wednesday Night will feature a concert by Begonia and a DJ set by Ali Wan Kenobi. Future events will include retro video games, hip hop and R&B nights, art tours, jazz performances, sketch nights, screenings, artist talks, and more.
  • As part of the Gallery’s accessibility initiatives, free admission and extended hours will create more opportunities for meaningful visits and cultural engagement.
  • Everyday free admission to the Gallery remains in place for youth 18 and under and for Indigenous Peoples.
