As the old saying goes: offer an inch and they’ll walk a mile.
Deacons, mayors, firefighters, Realtors and men from all walks of life took the challenge to do both, adding inches to their height and attempting to stay steady for the Bow Valley Walk-a-Mile in Her Shoes.
The annual event was held in Canmore this year and, despite a drizzle and downpour on Friday (Sept. 15), the event went off without a hitch, raising thousands for Banff YWCA programs aimed at preventing partner violence and providing shelter for women in need.
“Everyone is invited and also, having so many men, I think it really does reflect that we’re in this together and if we’re going to make a difference we’re going to do it together as a community,” said YWCA Banff CEO Connie MacDonald.
