Health minister says advisory committee tasked with reviewing shelter to meet soon

Yukon MLAs have voted together for an opposition motion to include the RCMP in a review of the Whitehorse Emergency Shelter.

The final motion calls on the territory to work with First Nation governments, the 405 Alexander Advisory Committee and RCMP on the review, including options to decentralize services from the central location in downtown Whitehorse.

In a statement, Yukon RCMP spokesperson Calista MacLeod said police are already involved with various initiatives related to downtown safety with the territorial government, the City of Whitehorse and First Nations governments.
