Protesters gathered outside the Export Development Canada (EDC) office in Ottawa on Tuesday to voice their opposition to the federal government’s expansion of LNG projects.
It was the first of five demonstrations across major Canadian cities this week, and brought together environmental and Indigenous-rights activists to call for public funding to be redirected from LNG to clean, renewable energy sources. The activists argued that LNG projects accelerate climate change, undermine Indigenous rights and drive up costs for Canadians.
