Peguis First Nation declares State of Emergency as flooding becomes certain – PortageOnline

Peguis First Nation declared a State of Emergency over the weekend as flood waters continue to threaten the community.

Peguis First Nation Chief Dr. Stan Bird announced on Saturday that, based on information gathered over the weekend, the flood risk is now a certainty.

“It is expected to exceed the banks of Fisher River in the coming days,” said Chief Bird in a video on social media. “Evacuations of our residents will be required.”
