The Town of Aurora is inviting residents to take part in a Red Dress Day Walking Vigil on May 5, held in recognition of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+).

The Town of Aurora is inviting residents to take part in a Red Dress Day Walking Vigil on May 5, held in recognition of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+).

Observed annually across Canada, Red Dress Day honours the lives of Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people who are missing or have been murdered, while recognizing the families and communities deeply affected by this ongoing tragedy. The day is symbolized by the empty red dress, an image first introduced by Métis artist Jaime Black to represent loss, remembrance and the urgent need for change.
